From starring in Inception to various X-Men movies and the more recent hit show, The Umbrella Academy, this actor has been an active voice in the LGBTQ+ community. Having been an inspiration and a proud activist for the LGBTQ+ community, Elliot Page was relatively unknown until recent years. Since then, and even before, he has been doing his part to use his platform to bring awareness to issues concerning the community. Most recently, Page has announced that he is a transgender male, sharing that his pronouns are he/they in a long, emotional, and vulnerable Instagram post on December 1st. In recent news, he even called out celebrities Chris Pratt, Justin Bieber, Hailey Bieber, Selena Gomez, etc. on their support for Zoe Church, an organization that has taken harmful stances on LGBTQ+ issues. Although this was hugely controversial, Page's main goal is to support his community and use this outlet the world has given him to advocate for the community. He has also played an active role in politics, expressing his stances on Former President Trump and Former Vice President Pence's role in increasing hate crimes and "environmental racism". Page is a true advocate of all minorities, not just the communities he himself is a part of.

Although this fact may be overshadowed, his powerful roles in movies and TV shows serves to represent his community. In most modern films, LGBTQ+ actors are sparse and often not given a starring role. His role as Vanya Hargreeves/The White Violin in The Umbrella Academy portrays him as a powerful person. In Season 2, we get to see him delve more into the character's sexuality as Vanya begins a relationship with Sissy. Because of the time period it is set in, the two realize that their actions would not be accepted in society but they still fight for each other. These sorts of scenes were almost painful to watch because the viewers were really rooting for the two. The sad reality is that in many places, this hasn't changed much across the globe. LGBTQ+ people are still discriminated against.

In 2019, Page did a piece with TeenVogue about the struggles of coming out while facing the pressures of Hollywood and the media. He mentioned "how people in the industry pressured him to keep his sexuality a secret", even going so far as to force him to wear certain types of clothing "for the purpose of keeping up appearances". This hugely successful, confident, and proud man even felt outside pressures to follow the status quo. It is so important to see celebrities stepping up and taking these steps to inspire those who do not feel comfortable opening up about their sexuality to come forth and embrace themselves. Even if they don't end up taking the big step and coming out, just knowing that being themselves isn't a crime or an "affliction" is so very important.

Page has been happily married to his spouse, Emma Portner, since 2018 and as he continues to change the world for the better by bringing up important issues and advocating for his community, the power couple together is even more of an unstoppable force when it comes to advocating for the community and being an inspiration to us all! They continue to be unwavering in their efforts to support the LGBTQ+ community.
